Digital Media Professor talks about how the data in Social Networks and other available sources can be harvested by Analytics to predict people's wants and needs.
Austin, Texas - Friday, October 23, 2009 - DataInfoCom, an analytics software company, and Dr. CJ Cornell, Professor of Digital Media & Entrepreneurship at ASU, are conducting a free webinar on Friday, October 30, 2009, at Noon Eastern. This talk will focus on predicting behavior, plus wants and needs, of the current and the future customers of most large corporations - for new products, new services, and changes to the existing products and services.
Social Networks. It's no longer just chat, forums, embarrassing photos, anonymous confessions, and endless political shouting matches. From Facebook to Twitter, YouTube to Amazon - ordinary people are living out-loud and online. They are the "digital natives" as well as gen-x and boomers. If you are a large business, they are your customers, your future customers - and your competitor's customers. Smart, savvy and passionate: forget trying to figure out what they want and how to make them happy. They are telling each other; they are telling everyone - and they are telling you.
Most companies are trying to figure out how to keep up.
"This session is not about keeping up; it's about leaping ahead. It's not about how to market using Twitter or how to advertise using Facebook," said CJ Cornell, Ph.D., Professor of Digital Media & Entrepreneurship at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Cornell is also the principal Entrepreneur-in-Residence at The Knight Center for Digital Media Entrepreneurship where he conducts research on social networks, behavioral economics, entrepreneurship, and advanced digital media.
Cornell added, "We'll discuss this 21st century consumer - how they are using Social Networks in their lives and how you can leverage this in your business. It all comes down to behavior, analysis, strategy, and action. We'll discuss some of the Social Networks data, tools, and techniques available to business leaders, plus product, marketing, services, and operations managers - so they can understand and succeed with today's customers. We will talk about spotting trends before they become problems or lost opportunities; spotting trends before your competition does. How to detect emotions, wants, needs, passions, etc. without asking the customer? Then, how to influence their decisions without directly advertising to them?"
Registration for this free webinar is currently open at http://www.datainfocom.com/upcoming_webinar.html.

Demystifying Analytics - free webinar series explaining the key concepts of Analytics to business executives |
| |
Austin, Texas - Wed, August 12, 2009 - DataInfoCom is sponsoring a free webinar series to help educate today's busy executives on the key concepts of Analytics. The title of the series is "Behind the veil - Scientific disciplines enabling Analytics & Optimization" and it will contain several episodes, each episode focused on a particular scientific discipline. The first episode of this series will air live (30 minutes) on August 20, 2009, Thursday, at 12 noon Eastern (11 AM Central, 9 AM Pacific); the topic will be Operations Research and its 7 key concepts, in plain English.
Analytics is all over the news these days, especially in the business press. A simple Google search of the word analytics produces about 100 million entries! Even with this much noise - unfortunately, a lot of it is just that, "noise" - the largest potential beneficiaries of analytics (i.e., the executives in large corporations and the officials in government organizations) still lack high-level understanding of the fundamental scientific concepts behind analytics. DataInfoCom wants to change this state of affairs - DataInfoCom believes more these potential beneficiaries learn about analytics, better it will be for all involved. Moving forward, this newly acquired knowledge should enable these executives to make much more informed decisions about "if" and "how" analytics can be of value to their organizations. The understanding of analytics concepts, coupled with the executives' existing knowledge of their businesses, should facilitate the 'right' investments in Analytics & Optimization for the 'right' reasons, at the 'right' time, and with the 'right' returns.
DataInfoCom is proud to have two leading academics in the field of Operations Research - the science of decision management - as speakers for the first episode: Operations Research and its 7 key concepts, in plain English. They are Dr. John Hasenbein, Associate Professor, Operations Research & Industrial Engineering, University of Texas at Austin, and Dr. David P. Morton, Professor, Operations Research & Industrial Engineering, University of Texas at Austin.
To attend the first episode (30 minutes) of the FREE webinar series, please visit http://www.datainfocom.com/newsletter_200809.html.
"Analytics is not about pretty dashboards - at its best, analytics is about preventive actions to avoid a predicted issue, or, proactive actions to take advantage of a predicted opportunity. Operations Research plays a key role in enabling decisions that are actionable, timely, practical, and optimum. We believe most industry executives will find it well worth 30 minutes of their time to learn about Operations Research from Dr. Hasenbein and Dr. Morton," says Atanu Basu, CEO & President, DataInfoCom.

Austin, Texas, April, 2009 - Chris Stanley, former Vice President, Enterprise and Partner Group, Asia, at Microsoft, has joined the Board of Directors of DataInfoCom, a company whose patent-pending technologies enable large corporations to predict the future of their core processes and key initiatives. The same technologies from DataInfoCom also help these corporations avoid upcoming problems and benefit from upcoming opportunities.

"For Microsoft, I have been selling to, and partnering with, large enterprises all over the world for more than a decade and a half now. I sold technology solutions that improved upon our customers' and partners' business processes. Microsoft is a great company that produces great productivity software. DataInfoCom is also a very innovative company with software and know-how to provide customers with ongoing predictive visibility - coupled logically with a real-time decision-making engine that takes advantage of this knowledge of the future to further strengthen their business processes. I have seen it work, first hand, for business processes with global scale. So, when Atanu asked me to join the Board of Directors last year to help the company grow, I signed on happily," said Chris.
"We are very happy to have Chris join us in the Board. He brings a complementary set of expertise and experience to our Board of Directors and Advisors - his proven track record at Microsoft, coupled with in-depth understanding of enterprise customers and their needs and wants, will be an asset to DataInfoCom's upcoming growth," says Dick Hunter, Chairman of the Board, DataInfoCom.

Managing Director at Firmenich joined the Board of Directors of DataInfoCom |

Managing Director at Firmenich joined the Board of Directors of DataInfoCom |
| |
Austin, Texas, April, 2009 - Asit Patel, a Managing Director at Firmenich (India), has joined the Board of Directors of DataInfoCom, a company whose patent-pending technologies enable large corporations to predict the future of their core processes and key initiatives. The same technologies from DataInfoCom also help these corporations avoid upcoming problems and benefit from upcoming opportunities. Firmenich is a $2.5 billion, privately held, Consumer Goods company, which is headquartered in Switzerland.
Asit has been in the Consumer Goods industry for the past 30 years, both as an entrepreneur and an executive. He has been a buyer and a supplier; an owner and a manager; in sales and in purchasing. Currently he runs Firmenich's Indian operations; he is also responsible for Firmenich's supply chain and purchasing in India. Asit took over a fledgling family business at a young age and developed it into a successful corporation over a period of 20 years before forming a Joint Venture with Firmenich in 1997 and agreeing to stay on and lead Firmenich's mandates in India.
"For decades, around the globe, I have seen corporations react to events that have already transpired - that was, and unfortunately still is, the norm for most business processes and initiatives. I have also experienced how companies underutilize their data assets and revert to 'gut based' decisions as a natural instinct. When I met the DataInfoCom folks a few of years ago, they claimed their innovations can provide ongoing predictive visibility, along with actionable decisions to take advantage of this knowledge of the future - I was intrigued and cautiously optimistic. Over the past couple of years I have observed DataInfoCom successfully implement these technologies for global processes at 'Fortune 50' customers. So, when Atanu asked me to join the Board of Directors to help the company transition to its next stage of maturation, I was enthused to sign on," said Asit.
"We are really glad to have Asit join us on the Board. He brings a complementary set of expertise and experience to our Board of Directors and Advisors - his perspectives, ones that comes from a proven track record, both as an entrepreneur and as an executive, will be an asset to DataInfoCom's upcoming growth," says Dick Hunter, Chairman of the Board, DataInfoCom.
"Asit is an entrepreneur and a practitioner - he has experienced things from both sides of the coin. What we are going through now, he has gone through before; his guidance during this growth phase is helping us do what our technologies do for our customers - drive, looking forward," says Atanu Basu, CEO & President, DataInfoCom.
Asit studied Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and completed the Owner/President Management Program (OPM) from Harvard Business School. He lives in Mumbai, India.
